To encourage business owners to get their employees more involved in health and safety at work, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have launched a new campaign called 'Do your bit'.
The campaign is a year long initiative offering free or subsidised training courses to help businesses get their employees more involved in improving health and safety in the workplace.
The campaign has been launched in response to workplace research which provides evidence to suggest that where businesses have good workforce involvement, they also often achieve better performance in health and safety and experience better productivity because their staff are motivated and feel engaged in the organisation.
Subsidised training for new potential health and safety representatives is initially aimed at four industries, so if your business is involved in any of the following sectors, you could be eligible for free or subsidised training:
If your business doesn't fall under one of these categories, don't worry. Any organisations seeking to improve on their existing consultation and worker involvement arrangements can express their interest in a fully funded training package now.
Find out more and register your business for training at www.hse.gov.uk/doyourbit.
