The Forum of Private Business is backing the motion from Brian Cotter MP, the Liberal Democrat Spokesman on Small Business, calling on the Government to take an urgent lead on resolving the current crisis in the insurance industry. FPB members have been hit with spiralling insurance premiums for employer and public liability insurance - some have even had cover refused. "It's very good news that Parliament is taking the problem seriously in response to FPB's concerns," said Garry Parker, FPB director of public affairs. "Now is the time for the Government to intervene, with an excellent opportunity for the Chancellor to act in his pre-budget statement next Wednesday. "We hope that all members of the all party Parliamentary small business group will sign the motion and welcome a debate in the House." ends NOTES TO EDITORSThe mission of the FPB is to influence laws and policies that affect private businesses and provide members with the support they need to grow profitably. The FPB is the only small business organisation whose policies are always determined by its members through a unique Referendum postal ballot. For further information contact: FPB Press Office: 01565 634467 |
