Malcolm Harbour, MEP for the West Midlands, picked up the Award in 2006. He is urging businesses to nominate their politicians in 2007.
"Last year, I was delighted and privileged to be the winner of the inaugural Business-friendly MP/MEP Award. It has given me new opportunities to meet owners and managers of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and continue my work on their behalf – there is much to be done to promote innovation and cut red tape. I hope that many of the FPB's members will nominate colleagues from Europe and Westminster for the 2007 Award. It is a real encouragement to have your efforts recognised."
Len Collinson, National Chairman of the FPB, said: "Smaller businesses sometimes believe legislators take no notice of their interests. It is important that the FPB finds and encourages such MPs and MEPs."
Manny Lewis, Chief Executive of the London Development Agency and current lead RDA Chief Executive, said: "England's RDAs are pleased to be supporting this important award once again. The RDAs know that smaller businesses make a significant contribution in driving the regional economy, attracting investment, creating jobs and furthering regeneration opportunities."
The Award will be presented on Wednesday, 16 May at 2.30pm in Room O of Portcullis House at the House of Commons. Andy Love MP, Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Small Business Group, will host the ceremony.
Nominations for the Award can be made at visiting www.fpb.org/businessMP. A shortlist of nominees for the Award will be announced ahead of the presentation.
