The FPB is calling for a reduction in the burden of legislation, which for many firms is a barrier to growth, for a greater understanding of the impact of late payment and a reduction in the lower rate of corporation tax.
David Howarth said: "I am delighted to be able to support this campaign to put small businesses at the heart of the Government's decision-making process. This is a tough climate in which to run a small business and the Government should be doing all in its power to help them."
On receiving the MP's signed pledge, the FPB's Chief Executive, Phil Orford, said: "David Howarth's signature adds even more momentum to our Think Smallest First campaign. Having an MP who stands up for small businesses in his constituency should help in getting the Think Smallest First message heard where it needs to be – in Westminster."
The FPB's ‘Think Smallest First' campaign was launched in June, and has gained cross-party support from MPs and Ministers. The FPB also posted a petition on the Downing Street website, which now has more than 800 signatures from owners of small businesses and members of the public.
Mr Howarth was elected in 2005. He has been the Liberal Democrat Party's Energy Spokesman and was recently appointed to the position of Shadow Justice Minister. |
