National business body appoints Scottish small business ambassador

A national support organisation for smaller firms has appointed an ambassador to represent Scottish small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Forum of Private Business has made Edinburgh-based financial consultant Tony Law its Business Development Manager for Scotland.

The new role will see Mr Law communicating the issues and concerns facing Scotland's small companies, as well as recruiting new Forum members throughout the Scottish regions.

Mr Law, who has more than 22 years experience in providing services to small businesses, will work alongside the Forum's Scottish spokesperson, Jim Gorie, who has been with the organisation for several decades.

Forum spokesman Phil McCabe said: "We've recently been increasing our network of regional representatives around the UK, both to gain valuable feedback from smaller firms in each region and also to directly raise awareness of the benefits Forum membership brings.

"We're delighted to appoint Mr Law as part of this programme and believe he will do an excellent job of representing the views and concerns of his fellow business owners in Scotland."

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Law said: "I'm looking forward to meeting business owners around the country and finding out about the issues and challenges they currently face.

"I'm also looking forward to highlighting the benefits of Forum membership to SMEs. Never before has there been more reason to join an organisation which is truly interested in supporting Scottish businesses."

Scottish business owners can meet Mr Law and find out more about the Forum at a free breakfast networking event in Edinburgh next month.

The event will provide valuable business-to-business networking opportunities and also includes a free seminar on web design and search engine optimisation from industry experts Creare.

It takes place at the George Hotel, George Street, on Tuesday, December 7, running from 8am to around 10am. A complimentary light breakfast will be provided.
