Forum members Mark Docker and Ian Gordon signed up to the Get Britain Trading pledge early after hearing about the campaign from Forum staff.
Just ahead of the campaign's official launch on 17 February, the two owner-managers spoke about what they are hoping to gain from Get Britain Trading. Mark is the owner of S.L.S. Investigations, a private investigations company based in Manchester:
He said: "There is a real lack of confidence within the business community at the moment which has been noticeable for the last couple of years. I feel that this is at least partly due to the media's coverage of the current economic climate.
"The negative reporting of the issues is causing more uncertainty and is therefore becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. I hope that Get Britain Trading will play its part in providing a positive message and will increase business and consumer confidence."
Mark is doing his bit to Get Britain Trading. He explained: "I am currently a member of several business networking organisations and events and have developed a wide network of contacts.
"Once I have gained enough knowledge of the services each company offers, I try to suggest possible connections where I feel a company or individual has a synergy with another, or a service that is needed by someone else I know. We can all do our bit to help Get Britain Trading."
Ian is the Managing Director of Peak Translations Ltd in Cheshire. He told us:
"Business is all about confidence and this is what I hope Get Britain Trading will achieve. If the campaign succeeds in increasing levels of confidence it will help to revitalise the British economy."
Peak Translations is a small firm that provides a full range of language services, including translating and interpreting, for businesses throughout the UK and worldwide. Ian has his own advice to help Get Britain Trading:
"For businesses that are thinking of selling their products or services abroad, it's vital that they consider cultural factors as well as language differences, and that is where a good translation company is invaluable." |
