Entrepreneurs attending the Yorkshire Business Market in Harrogate are being urged to support Get Britain Trading – a major new campaign to recognise the importance of small businesses, boost their profits and help them to create jobs. The campaign is the brainchild of the Forum of Private Business, a leading not-for-profit small business membership organisation. It calls for specific measures to help firms improve cash flow, create a simple and proportionate tax system, improve employment and boost skills and create opportunities for growth. The Forum, which is also holding a prize draw for a year's free membership, is urging business owners to sign up to the campaign in order to provide the organisation with a powerful mandate to lobby the Government. In addition, visitors who need advice on any aspect of starting or running a business can benefit from the expertise of the Forum's very own agony aunt, Joanne Eccles, who, as an experienced Business Adviser, is the first point of contact for owner-managers calling the organisation's member helpline. "Since it was established in 1977 the Forum has existed to provide its members with the support, information and advice they need to start and grow a business more cost-effectively," she said. "We also speak out on behalf of small businesses where, alone, they would have no real voice at all. By providing representation at local, national and European levels we strive to create the economic conditions that are necessary for success. "But our strength is in our numbers – I would urge everyone attending Yorkshire Business Market to back the Get Britain Trading campaign and throw their weight behind what we are trying to achieve." The event takes place on Monday, 9 May. The second prize in the draw will be a year's free access to a customer relationship management and marketing system worth £1,000, donated by Yorkshire Business Growth. In addition, the Forum is offering business owners a 25% reduction in their membership fee if they join on the day, and 10% off if they make an appointment with a representative and then sign up. "I am delighted Yorkshire Business Growth is able to work with the Forum of Private Business, which over the years has proven to be a highly-effective business support organisation," said Anthony Jackson, the Forum's Ambassador for Yorkshire. "On this occasion we are providing a starting point for SMEs to develop a more pro-active presence and also to reach out to existing – and potential – clients." As an invaluable extension to its members' teams the Forum has developed a range of tailored business solutions to support, protect and reassure small firms throughout the lifecycle of their businesses. These are: ‘Finance Director', ‘Legal Director', ‘HR Director', ‘Health and Safety Director', ‘Development Director', ‘Purchasing Director', ‘Communications Director' and ‘Managing Director'.
