 The FPB is pleased to support the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) as its chosen charity.
As such, we are committed to generating vital funds to support the Group's work and also increasing the nation's awareness of the charity and its activities, which include improving the management of children with cancer and advancing the knowledge and study of childhood malignancy.
About the CCLG
Cancer, although common in adults, is relatively rare in children; only one in 200 of all cancer cases affects a child. Of the 1,  700 children in the UK it affects every year, 90% are treated by doctors belonging to the CCLG.

 Charity events in 2006
In March 2006, FPB employees raised £500 for the charity by taking part in the Wilmslow Half-Marathon. Not content with one athletic act, in October FPB staff then undertook a valiant hike to the summit of Snowdon in North Wales, raising a further £1,200.
Charity Events in 2007
We have built on that success in 2007, by taking part in no fewer than three fundraising events, which, we are hoping, will have more than doubled our fundraising total from 2006.
In March 2007, two more FPB employees took part in the Wilmslow Half-Marathon, raising over £300. This was followed in May by the FPB's three peaks challenge. A team of four climbers from the FPB conquered the three tallest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales in under 36 hours, with the total raised topping £1,400.
Our most recent charity challenge raised over £1,500 for the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG). Eight female staff members took part in a sponsored walk with a difference when they trekked along the Wirral Way, Merseyside, on Sunday 23 September. It took the form of a three-legged relay, which meant that two of them were bound together at any one time.

We are planning a series of even more challenging fundraisers for 2008, and hope that our members will support us in this.
The Payroll Giving Quality Mark
Now in its second year, the Payroll Giving Quality Mark is a Government-funded scheme that recognises and rewards organisations of all sizes for making payroll giving available to staff.
 Payroll giving schemes, such as Give As You Earn, are one of the easiest ways for employees who are paid through PAYE to give regularly to charity – plus it's both flexible and tax efficient. Your employees choose how much they want to give each month, and the charities they want to give to. The donation then comes off their gross pay, before the taxman touches it. The FPB has been awarded the Bronze award for payroll giving.
