There is no legal right to pay employees over public bank holidays. Employers can if they wish to do so, by counting it as part of the employee’s statutory annual leave.
Over the Christmas and New Year period there are three public bank holidays in England and Wales.
This year’s Christmas and New Year bank holidays are as followed:
Monday 25th December – Christmas Day
Tuesday 26th December – Boxing Day
Monday 1st January – New Year’s Day
