Business costs have continued to rise during 2015, with staff costs still the most commonly seen increase among small businesses, according to the latest research from national business group, the Forum of Private Business.
The results also showed that 86% of businesses have seen an overall increase in their business costs over the last 12 months. However, only staff costs are more frequently mentioned than in a similar survey last year; part of this is due to market forces – businesses having to pay increased salaries to attract and retain staff, but the majority of the costs faced by businesses were regulatory – the cost of auto-enrolment on small employers and the cost of the EU ruling on holiday pay
